Another week gone here, the rain continues to fall steadily which is good. I’m continuing to settle into my new role here at the school, I’m enjoying having a schedule that doesn’t revolve around teaching. There is plenty of work that needs done so I’m kept busy without the pressure of preparing for classes on top of that.
On Wednesday night we had a meeting to discuss the upcoming year for street ministry. Most of those involved in it last year will be coming back and hopefully some new people too. The two boys from Horizon club who came last year will be involved also which will be great. Please pray that God will bless this year’s street ministry.
We had the first Horizon boys club of the year on Saturday morning where we had all the boys over for games in the Gym. Brian brought out some small wheeled boards that the kids use to skate about the floor and we played some games with the boys, including ten pin bowling where the boys took it in turns to fling each other, on the boards, towards skittles. Very amusing to watch!!!
After the boys club finished, Brian and I left to take a trip out of the city on motorbikes. I have purchased the bike that I looked at last weekend and we took off on our first trip on them. Its quite a feeling, riding on the road, having it open up in front of you, winding through the African wilderness, great! We headed for a town called Ambo where we checked into a hotel. After taking a look at their cheapest room available, we quickly changed our minds about roughing it and went for their most expensive “suite” option. The cost for this room was £5 each. We had a great weekend relaxing by the pool, eating well and generally enjoying our new-found freedom to get out of the city! We returned back tonight, stopping once or twice to take some photos, and having to drive through a thunderstorm. It felt good to get home!
We’re hoping to do some exploring this year, now that we have the freedom to do so. I’m looking forward to getting out and seeing the country!
Hope all is well back in Ireland.
Niall
