So it's the evening before I'm leaving Ireland to go back to Addis Ababa. I've enjoyed being able to catch up with as many friends as possible, though it has been quite a busy time, and inevitably I haven't been able to get round everyone! The next time I'm back in the country, I'll be around for quite a bit longer so it will be nice to be able to visit people in a less rushed fashion.
One of the things that I've been able to do whilst over this side of the world is to enrol in a climbing wall instructor course. Bingham Academy has a small climbing wall in their gymnasium, which they use with the older students. The previous certified instructor left the school last year so the school asked me if I would take over from him from next year onwards. This course was to give some further training and certification for me to supervise activities on the climbing wall. It was definitely helpful, and I'm looking forward to being able to instruct and teach students about climbing as well as the other classes I'm going to be teaching. After I get back, I will have about 2 weeks to prepare lessons and classes before the students arrive in mid-August. Pray for me as I prepare, it's been quite a while since I was a teacher!!
Must get to bed, I've a long day ahead tomorrow,
Niall
