Another week passed, every week that I write this blog, I realise how quickly the weeks pass here! A sign of how much I'm enjoying living and working in this country :-)
This will be the last week of my language classes in their current form, for a number of reasons. Firstly, because the school is moving to a different compound. But mainly because my class is going to change quite a bit, one of my fellow students will be leaving, and our teacher is also leaving the school. It is a real shame, because over the weeks as a class, we've got to know each other well, which helps to keep the learning light-hearted and fun. That definitely helps you not to feel overwhelmed by it all. So I'm hoping that with the new change, things will continue to keep enjoyable! Regardless, I'm definitely feeling that I'm getting places, and can converse more ably with friends in Amharic. I met up with some of the Bingham staff for lunch this week for some good practice, and enjoyed attempting to tell them the story of the glass in my dinner at the Sheraton.
I was also at Bingham this week to begin the hand over from the current IT director, who is leaving at the end of the year. He has made some major changes to the school computer system, and so it will definitely take me some time, and stretch my knowledge, to get up to speed with it all. Still, I'm eager for the challenge.
Yesterday, I managed to make it to the Bethel Baptist Church for the first time since I've been back. This was the church that I had really enjoyed when I was in Ethiopia in May 2013. It is a long way away from where I'm living, but I really enjoyed the service there, and was warmly welcomed. I think the long journey will be worth it most Sunday mornings.
Nothing much else out of the ordinary this week! Hope all is well at home! Love getting all your emails, and hearing all the news from N. Ireland!!
