Another week gone here in Addis Ababa!
I'm continuing to enjoy Language school here, which is good. I had an assessment on Friday, taking me from level 2A to 2B in the levels they use here. Mostly just simple conversation, but I do notice an increase in my ability to small talk in Amharic, which is definitely encouraging. Hearing a few people speak who have gone through to level 4 (quite a few grades above me) makes me eager to progress to a similar level before the I have to stop in the summer. It's funny how in conversation in a foreign language, if you don't understand one word in a sentence, it can throw you completely, even if you understand all of the other words. I really hope to be able to progress to where that isn't a problem much of the time!
I'm also still loving being able to travel freely around Addis Ababa on my motorbike, its so nice to be able to go places without having to think about how I'll get home, or how much it will cost. I continue to be amazed at how little fuel that it uses, I thought the fuel gauge was broken this past week, because it didn't seem to be going down despite me using it so much. However, I have noticed it going down a little today.
The past Friday and Saturday were Field day at Bingham, aka Sports day. Basically, the whole school gets involved in organising and helping out with all the events that the students have to compete in. It's a really enjoyable day to watch, and great to see the team spirit that all these students have, they constantly encourage each other on, even when they are competing against one another in the same event. It's very impressive to watch. Anyway, as always, I took one or two photos:
